Download from App Store
The App Store maintains your app purchases and downloads. You can download directly from the store or from your App Store account as follows.
. Open the App Store.
. Tap the account icon (head) at top right.
. Check that you are using the purchasing Apple ID.
. Select Apps > My Apps.
. Search for the PK Birds app.
Transfer to new IOS device
To transfer the app to a new device, download from the App Store as above.
Transfer app purchase
The App Store links your account, purchases and downloads to the Apple ID/email address used for purchasing. Your Apple ID cannot be changed nor can purchases be transferred to another account.
Transfer from iPhone to Android
Your purchases are linked to your App Store account and cannot be transferred to the other store, but you can of course continue to use the app on a device supported by the store you purchased from.
Transfer Bird Lists
To transfer your bird lists > open My Lists > tap the export icon > select "Sync to iCloud" on the old device and "Sync from iCloud" on the new device. Use Import/Export files to export or import from locations and share or print list files.

The app requires GPS "fine location" to generate GPS data for bird list sightings. GPS is an off-line function. The GPS data is recorded on the device and not transmitted or recorded anywhere else. To use, switch GPS "ON" in bird list settings.

This usually occurs when transferring app and settings from an old device to a new device and Android version. To clear the old settings please try the following:
> Go to Settings > Apps > PKBirds > Storage > Clear Data.
> Start the app and download the data.
If that fails:
> Uninstall the app.
> Open My Files > clear recycle bin.
> Use the Google Drive app to go online to Google Drive, tap the menu icon top left, and clear device backup. The backup will be restored automatically.
> Reinstall the app by downloading from the Play Store.
Transfer bird lists
Transfer your bird lists from the My Lists page - export to Google Drive on the old device and import from Google Drive on the new.

Export Lists
You can export your lists as text files as follows:
> Go to Modules > Bird Lists > Personal Lists > In/Out
> Select the list to export etc.
> Use the Help function red [?] top right and look for Export Lists.
Transfer Lists
Using Windows File Explorer, your bird list data as used by the app is found under:
C:\users\YOUR_USER_NAME\appdata\roaming\PKBirds\userdata\YourUserName.MDB
This folder can be copied to a new app installation.
Or use Microsoft Access to open the MDB file and export lists as Excel spreadsheets.

If the Roberts Bird Guide 2 iap version does not "Restore Purchase", you may have purchased the previous Roberts Bird Guide 2. Please go back to the App Store, scroll past the iap version, and select the Roberts Bird Guide 2 for download.

Bird text not displaying fully
This is due to IOS updates. To view the full text, toggle the forward > and back < arrows to refresh the page.
Export bird lists to PC
The Roberts VII Multimedia lists need to be exported via iTunes on your PC. Once exported you can upload them to iCloud/Google Drive.
Step 1. Export lists to device
Open the Roberts MM app > open My Lists > select the export arrow > select export.
Step 2. Download and install the iTunes app to your PC. Links below.

> Link your iPhone/iPad to your PC.
> Open iTunes > file menu at top left > select Account > select Authorise this computer.
> Connect your device > wait for the icon to show up top left.
> Tap the icon > select File Sharing > select Roberts Birds app.
> Select My Lists.csv > Save > select folder on your PC > Save.
> check for the file My Lists.csv in your folder.

Please use the "Register by telephone" page to enter your details. Do not phone.
Click on GENERATE CODES and the page will generate two codes. Please copy and paste the following TEXT format to your email and add your details and codes.

Export Lists

The list module is designed to make it quick and easy to add and create new lists.
Creating Lists
To create a list quickly and easily:
. First add a new list and set the place name and date in the list settings.
. Use My Location to select a local area list.
. Scroll through the list and tap the add icon to add directly.
My List as your Life List
Your life list is the first time you see a new bird species. Use My List as your life list and add new lists that "Report to My List". By default only the first/earliest sighting is added to My List.
Adding a new list
On the My List page tap the + icon to add a new list:
Place name is not always the same as the list name. eg Kruger Park > Skukuza.
Date is usually the current date and time. Switch on Use List Date for adding old sightings.
Add GPS with current location (live) or select from a map location (fixed).
Report to My List is for creating your life list from sub-lists that you add to the My Lists page.
Allow multiple records is for recording a list where the same species is seen in different locations or on different dates. Useful for birding trips or site surveys.
Species Count reduces multiple records to one species counted for the list.
Remember to SAVE the list settings.
Active List is when the tickbox is highlighted and the list is active for receiving sightings. You can change which list is active by selecting another list tickbox.
Adding Sightings
. in the bird list, tap the add icon to add directly.
. or tap the bird name for the popup menu.
. Add Sighting adds directly with list details.
. Add/Edit Sighting allows you to edit the details.
Change Sighting Details
All sightings will be added with the place name and date set for the list. To change the details,
. change the list settings for place name and date as you work in a list.
. use the add/edit button on toolbar to change details for a specific sighting.
. or edit the sighting details afterwards in the My List module.
Three choices for date
. The list settings default to the current date and time unless you set a list date.
. To use a specific date for all sightings, switch on Use List Date, tap to set the date, then SAVE.
. To change the date for a specific sighting, use the Add/Edit option, change the date and save the sighting details.
